I've had alot of questions as to how a person can identify a 41 from a 46 or 42, so here it is....

Ok well first off the 1941 has some specific things only for that year, parklight housings are 3 part, the headliner is a one piece unit, the door lock for the passenger door is in the outer door handle. Also the rear of  the truck, (not panel) has a pot metal ring arround the outer part of the back window.

1942 well the first year for the parklight as a one part stamped cover, door lock for the passenger side is in the door not the handle,  the headliner is a 2 part unit, the later  year produced 42 had a leather gromet arround the gas tank filler, and a painted grill, but remember the first few months had a chrome grill and rubber gromet for the filler.

43-45 there were some produced for these years, same as the 42, but because of the war there was no chrome at all, the chrome was all painted, leather gas tank gromets on the filler, tin door handles with a tan or brown plastic outer coating for outside and inside handles, also because lead was not available the cab to firewall joint at lower front of windshield pillars was welded and not ground down.43-44 had no civilian 1/2 or 3/4 tons made, only 1 1/2 ton; 45 had 1/2- 1 1/2 tons, but very low #s, these are rare years, see the production # page to see how many.

1947 Early, in the early part of 47 the left over parts from 46 were used to put some 47s together, because of the strike in 46 this prolonged the production of this body style. Know I have found a few 47 that are exactly as the 46 but I have found some 47 with painted grills and then some chrome, and others with leather gas tank gromets, so it would seem that what was left from the war years was put together to get it out there, and to use up extra parts, so some of the 47 were a Monday made and some were a built on Wensday..

1946 was the same as the 42 early, with all the chrome, with the exeption of some that were put together using the left over parts from 45 year and were mostly 1 1/2 tons, so if you found painted chrome just know it was an early 46;  the ruber gas tank filler gromet returned ,the 46 had rear fender supports added to the pickups 1/2 3/4 tons to help sturdy them up( I'm not 100% sure they were not used the in any other years so if you find some on another year let me know, beside early 47).46 also had a 2 ton produced.

So I hope this helps, besides the vin plate , check the trans # and engine #.

Now its your turn to get one started.
