She was bougt and painted OD green By the Army, and went to work at the Iowa Ordinance Plant

I found this one in Wisconsin, it came back from North Dakota with a reseller, a farmer had it, and last regesterd it in 1975. The factory engine was long gone, and a hacked in newer car 216 was in its place. the rear fenders were from a trailer or something, and the rear bumper was pulled out to a "V" from pulling out stumps on the farm. I did get a 41' 216 and 3 speed from a deal with a hot rodder, and she ran like a top. The Swifts red and Black are the factory colors and were found under 5 to 6 layers of paint including the OD green by the Army. As there was a instant shortage of trucks durring the start of WWII, this one was bought by the army and painted, then sent to haul ammo at Iowa Ordinance Plant. It hauled over 80 differant types of ammo in her bed durring the war. This is why the dents in the bed were left in...

41-5tfreshpaint.jpg
Fresh paint, grill in, starting on trim, interrior, rear fenders.

At last a truck starts to appear, the engine in, interrior done, repainted, rewired, I went through at least 3 differant grills until I found an original that was in good enough shape to show, the bumpers are rechromed, the bumperets front and back were located on a 41' Chevy in a bone yard, the rear bed rack was made of pine, and match well. The truck always gets attention at a show, win or loose it gets the most questions asked young and old. Yes she has won here share of 1st places at shows, but the most fun you have restoring one is collecting all the parts to put one together..
